At A Pawsitive Step, we believe that learning together in a supportive environment can be both transformative and fun. Our Classes and Workshops are designed to cater to Dogs and Owners at all stages, providing engaging experiences that foster growth, optimism and a more rewarding bond between your and your canine companion.
Games-based training unlocks powerful concepts that enable you to identify exactly what your dog needs in as little as three minutes, you can truly reshape your dog's decision making.
So let's think now about the class and what you need.
We usually train around Malmesbury and on an Estate facility, that allows us to in real life situations and also in a secure location when needed. Please read the Directions below for the correct location.
Please come dressed in appropriate layers and outdoor boots and clothing. Also, a warm bed or thick blankets, a water bowl for your Dog, as their 'base'.
You will also need to bring two to three times the amount of food you think you'll need. You'll get through quite a bit so please make sure it's not too rich.

Puppy FUNdamentals
For 8 weeks to 5 months of age, come and find the puppy you’ve always dreamed of. We work on their ability to work on optimism, learning calmness and build their relationship value with you. Learn the best way to socialise without bombardment. grow the reward through variability, play and proximity to you.
You'll get weekly follow-up eBooklets to read, data sheets in a folder of course, homework to help you build owner optimism and stay accountable. Upon full completion, a Certificate of Success. All part of the accelerated learning process!

AdoleSENSE!
A challenging time with many labels attached to this life stage. Let’s train the dog in front of you, instead of a 'label'! We help reshape the flexibility of thinking, reinforce proximity to you and return the focus back to listening to you, including calm rehearsal of desired behaviours. Shaping that consistent disengagement and value is key! For dogs from 5 months to approx. 2 years.

UK Sniffer Dogs - Courses, Progressions & Trials
Any Dog can do it! The official format from UK Sniffer Dogs.
Tap into your Dogs incredible scenting abilities with our structured scent detection courses. Expert help for Dogs who suffer from all types of behaviour struggles, by giving them disengagment from their problems, optimism through flexibility of thinking, focus on you. Courses are designed to be engaging and fun, ensuring both you and your dog enjoy the learning process.
Bronze Level: Introduction to basic scent recognition and simple searches. Includes your UKSD Scent Kit for Bronze and Class handouts.
Silver Level: Intermediate training with more complex scents, passive and active searches in more challenging environments. Additional Scent Kit & Handouts are added
Gold Level: Advanced scent work, including multiple scent discrimination, water searches and intricate search scenarios. Additional Kit and Handouts are added.

Recall & Retrieve: Gundog Games
Looking for a rocking Retrieve? A dynamic Recall? Wish your dog was as steady as a 'Gundog'?
What is a 'Gundog'? A 'gundog' is a listening and responsive dog, a teammate working in partnership with their handler. The environment doesn’t have to 'look like' a shoot or the dog a 'gundog breed', for the class to benefit your super sport or amazing pet dog. Gundog or FUNdog – both are brilliant. We'll work on their value in being close to you. The desire to offer the right behaviour when asked. The focus to stay on task and the 'steadiness' or calm to be the best dog that they can be. Bring on the freedom and the joy!
Classes held over 6 lessons at Charlton Park Estate and/or the Unleashed Dog Field within the Estate.

Empower Your Dog with Essential, Pawsitive Life Skills
Our Life Skills Classes are designed to help your dog navigate everyday situations with confidence and good manners. Whether it's mastering polite greetings, walking calmly on a lead, or building focus amidst distractions, these sessions lay the foundation for a well-behaved companion.

We all want Dogs that are well mannered, happy, safe and friendly dogs, dogs that you can take proudly anywhere! Behaviour struggles appear at any time in life and these weekly sessions will turn them into a distant memory. It's important that you have attended and completed a group FUNdamentals or AdoleSENSE class or course of 1-2-1 sessions first. Classes will run for 48 weeks of the year.

Extremely excited to be able to offer the Dog `Sport that like Scentwork, is all inclusive and great for dogs and people of any age.
The aim of the game is for Dogs to find people with their noses! You work together as a team to find the missing person... the Misper! We teach them how to harness their amazing sense of smell and turn it into a super fun activity to do together. It is fun, dogs love it and it's is very addictive!
I like to think of it as Adult 'Hide and Seek' for us and problem solving similar to 'Chess' for your Dog! Venues vary dependant on the Handler and Dogs experiences and also due to our every changing weather patterns. Please do note that we sometimes have to move the venue the day before due to Health & Safety but you would be told 24 hours in advance if things may change. This would be the same area of Wiltshire/Gloucestershire, just potentially a different parking spot.

Getting there...
Our classes and workshops are held at different venues in North Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire. We often use the Secure Dog Field within the Charlton Park Estate. Details of this may be found by looking at this link for directions
We also also use the Secure Fields at The Doggy Playschool in Kemble for classes and workshops. This venue is near GL7 6AX. Click this Google Maps link and view directions here
I also encourage people to practice their training in different locations around Malmesbury for areas novelty, optimism and concept learning experiences. These locations are given according to the groups level of ability and understanding within each courses, truly tailoring the experience to the Dogs in front of us and not a 'one size fits all' format.
